How to build a CV that gets read
Keep it to one or two pages
Recruiters skim. Two pages is the ceiling for most roles; one is plenty early in a career.
Lead with results, not duties
«Cut deployment time from days to hours» says more than «responsible for deployments».
Mirror the words in the job ad
Applicant tracking systems match on terms. If the ad says «Kubernetes», write Kubernetes, not «container orchestration».
Skip the photo outside Europe
A photo is normal in Norway and much of Europe, and a liability in the US and UK where it invites bias claims.
Use a plain, parsable layout
Tables, text boxes and multi-column PDFs confuse parsers. Every template here is built to survive that.
Name the file properly
«Anna-Hansen-CV.pdf» beats «cv_final_v3.pdf» on a recruiter's desktop.
Where to go next
- Cover letter – write a letter that matches both your CV and the job ad.
- ATS check – see whether your CV survives the applicant tracking system.
- CV for jobs in Norway – what Norwegian employers expect, and help in 13 languages.
Frequently asked questions
Is the CV maker really free?
Yes. All 25 templates are free to use and download as PDF. There is no trial period, no watermark and no card details at any point.
What is the difference between a CV and a resume?
In Europe a CV is the standard one-to-two page job application document. In the US a resume is the same thing, while CV means a long academic record. This builder produces the European style, which is what employers in Norway and most of Europe expect.
Can I import my old CV?
Yes. Upload an existing PDF or Word file and the fields are filled in for you. You then edit the text and pick a new template without retyping anything.
Which file formats can I download?
PDF, which is what applicant tracking systems and recruiters read best. You can also share a short link that shows the CV in the browser, and switch that link off whenever you want.
Where is my data stored?
On servers in Norway, encrypted at rest. Your CV is never used to train AI models, and you can delete your account and all its data at any time.
Pick a template and get started
Signing up takes under half a minute. You can change template as you go, and everything is stored encrypted on servers in Norway.
